Take a day trip out to see the famous Shakespeare theatre in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon and shop in Royal Leamington Spa, a fashionable and elegant town in the heart of South Warwickshire. Covering nearly 800 square miles across five counties this region of “wolds”, or rolling hills , is the biggest of the 38 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales.

Most of it, around 80%, remains farmland that is divided by miles upon miles of dry stone walls that that is crisscrossed with walking trails, that we could try out if you feel the need to walk off that pub lunch, or maybe build up an appetite for your dinner that we have organised.

If plants and gardens are more your thing then a visit to picture-perfect Painswick. Its charmingly winding streets offering sudden and dramatic vistas. Walk around the 14th-century church of St Mary and its churchyard with lines of neatly bulbous, clipped yews (legend has it there are 99 of the trees and that the devil won’t let any more grow), and then onto the Rococo garden, a masterpiece of early 18th-century landscape design. Crossed by the Cotswold Way, the village is also an excellent hub for walking trails. Or the Westonbirt Arboretum, where you cannot fail but be impressed by the landscape of more than 16,000 trees. We may even be lucky enough to catch one of the many concerts and evening shows there during our stay.

Enjoy evenings in with good food and company in our accessible cottage and perhaps read a good book by the fire and have a glass of wine. These holidays with care offer something for everyone. We try and give you as many ideas as possible and you can decide where you want to visit and when.
