wheelchair accessible short breaks & Respite
Our short breaks and respite options are available to all disabled people, are wheelchair accessible and operate all year round. We have various options available in the UK and abroad, with different activities and interests available to suit all tastes. Be in the audience of a TV programme, visit the set of your favourite programme, city breaks and country breaks. You could even do more adrenaline based activities such as accessible paragliding or accessible land yachting in Brittany.
Maybe relaxing and more therapeutic treatments are what you are looking for with massages, reiki, aroma-therapy and jacuzzi, we can offer a great break away from all the stresses and strains of daily life. If you have never had a short break and are finding it difficult to cope you need to speak with your GP or a care manager to see if you are entitled to funding from the local authority. We have an information sheet available about forms of funding available, grants and other charities that may be able to help towards the cost. Please call us 0800 949 6801 or complete the form on the contact us page to ask for a copy of our Grants and Funding Factsheet.
Short breaks are about giving disabled people a break but also just as importantly, giving the person that usually does the caring and support a break from that very demanding role. For many, caring is a very rewarding experience. However, it can also be tiring and stressful. Short breaks are one way of helping you cope with the day to day responsibilities of being a carer.
